More than lumber

Byproducts with a purpose

Every log has more to offer than its finished boards. We value finding practical uses for materials created during milling and debarking.

Sawmill equipment where hardwood is processed

Sawdust

Sawdust is produced during our hardwood milling operations. Depending on its condition and intended use, sawdust can be used as feedstock for making wood pellets or as bedding material in barn stalls on local farms. Suitability depends on wood species, cleanliness, moisture, and the needs of the end use.

Mulch

Bark and other material from the sawmill can be used as mulch. It can add a natural, rustic finish to garden beds and decorative landscaping. Some farms may also use suitable bark material in horse or livestock areas, depending on the animal, material quality, and management needs.

Farm Lumber

We also produce and sell farm lumber for practical projects such as barns, decks, and livestock pens. Lumber needs vary by project, so ask us about available species, dimensions, and intended use. Structural applications should be designed and built to the appropriate requirements.

A resourceful approach

Respect the wood. Use what the mill produces.

Hardwood milling turns logs into boards, but the process also creates sawdust and bark material. Rather than thinking of these as leftovers with no purpose, we recognize that they may be useful resources for pellet production, farm bedding, landscaping, and other practical applications.

Our goal is to make the most of the material that moves through the mill. Actual availability and suitability can vary, so contact us to discuss what we have and what you need.
